ATM queue
Scores of Skye Bank customers thronged various Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) in panic within the Abuja metropolis as soon as the news broke Friday evening that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had revoked the operating licence of the commercial bank.
Aside the long queues usually seen at weekends, yesterday’s drama was epic as majority of those on queue were Skye Bank customers.
At the Wuse market, countless traders rushed to withdraw as much money from their accounts as possible.
A grocer, Mr Mark Oche who was seen panicking while on queue lamented: “what sort of problem is this? So the bank has been sick since. Why did they revoke the licence on a Friday and in the evening for that matter? How do I evacuate my little money there?
Another trader, Miss Adanna groaned: “please o. I cannot come and lose my little money in Skye Bank o. That is why I am here to make withdrawal. Monday may be too late”, she said.
The same lengthy queues were seen in Kubwa and Gwarinpa axis of the distressed bank’s ATMs.
