One of the country’s political parties, the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), has adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), 70 years after it was adopted, and its inherent “The Right to Peace” as a theme.
A statement issued by ANN to mark the International Day of Peace being celebrated across the world today said: “Like the declaration recognises the inherent dignity, equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human race to peace, so does the party.”
A statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Akinloye Oyeniyi, stressed further that “ANN has been and shall continue to be a togetherness of determined Nigerians speaking, acting and living dignity, equality and peace in their resolve to birth a new Nigeria of happy people.”
The party noted that “a peaceful nation is one where there is justice and equality for everyone regardless of all divides.” It implored all Nigerians and non-Nigerians to always recall the values of oneness and the difference ANN stands for, “to pursue a peaceful and purpose-driven alliance greater than all forces attempting to force rule of hate and divisibility upon us.”
