The Federal Government has approved the dismissal of six officers of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons,(NAPTIP), one compulsory retirement and sanctioning of two others for various offences considered inimical to the operations of the Agency.
Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami, gave the approval according to a statement from the Agency on Thursday in Abuja.
The statement issued by Mr Vincent Adekoye, Press and Public Relations Unit of NAPTIP, said this followed the recommendation of the management of the Agency who had found them culpable for various offences.
He noted that the development which has jolted other Officers of the Agency was part of the planned disciplinary actions and in-house cleaning exercise embarked upon by the present management to enthrone discipline, dedication, loyalty as well as enhance the operations of the Agency.
It would be recalled that the Director-General of NAPTIP, Dame Julie Okah-Donli, on assumption of office about a year ago, had promised to reposition the agency with emphasis on transparency, dedication and prompt delivery of service in addition to a rewarding system.
