The protesting youths
Youths under the aegis of Ezza Ezekuna Youth Association Thursday morning protested the demise of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ezza North Local Government of Ebonyi State, Barr. Ernest Odu.
The youth who came in large number with placards with the inscriptions saying, “Enough is Enough”, “Ezza Youths mourns Barr. Earnest Odu”, among others to Ebonyi State Government House, Abakaliki, called on the present administration to synergise with Enugu State Police Command to ensure that the suspects behind the dastardly acts were brought to book.
The leader of the group, Barr. Leonard Alegu, who lamented over the demise of the APC boss, accused Enugu State Police Command of complacency and unwillingness to investigate the incident which occurred in a hotel in Enugu.
“We are here to peacefully protest the death of our member who was the Ezza North Chairman of APC. This incident is very painful. Since the incident, Enugu Police command has not done anything to unravel the mystery behind the death of the Barr. Odu.
“We cannot keep quiet until justice prevails. We call on Ebonyi State Government to intervene in this incident. Barr. Odu died when he went for an APC meeting in Enugu.”
Receiving the protesters on behalf of Governor David Umahi, the Chief of Staff, Ebonyi State government House, Abakaliki, Dr. Emmanuel Offor, who sympathised with the group over the death of their colleagues, assured the protesters that their request would get to the Governor of the state.
The protesters presented their protest letter to the Chief of Staff before departing government house gate in the state.
