The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yusuff Lasun, has announced that the National Assembly will be reconvening next week.
Mr Lasun disclosed this to journalists in a press briefing on Thursday in Abuja.
The National Assembly is currently on recess, to resume in September.
The lawmakers upon resumption will look into President Muhammadu Buhari’s request on funding the 2019general elections.
President Muhammadu Buhari had in July 2018 said that the 2019general election will cost about 242.4billion Naira.
He said in a letter sent to the National Assembly, that the funds bedrawn from the 2018 and 2019 budgets.
The NASS leadership on Wednesday met with the Chairman of the Independent National and Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu to discuss the funding of the elections and the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.
The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, had on Monday convened a meeting with the INEC boss to hold on Tuesday which was later postponed, following the siege that was laid to the National Assembly by officers of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Saraki during his meeting with INEC boss on Wednesday questioned why the request for funds is coming to the National Assembly nearly three weeks and not a few months ago.
