Thunderstorm
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thunderstorms and rains in Maiduguri, Potiskum, Nguru, Kano, and Zaria during the morning hours of Thursday.
NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja on Wednesday predicted chances of a few thunderstorms and rains in the northern states during the afternoon and evening hours.
It added that day and night temperature in the region would be in the ranges of 28 – 30-degree Celsius and 21 – 24-degree Celsius respectively.
According to the prediction, there are prospects of rains in Kaduna, Jos, Bauchi, Ibi, Makurdi, Lafia, Minna and Abuja during the morning hours.
It said chances of thunderstorms and rains would be expected in Abuja, Lokoja, Jos, Makurdi, Lafia, Minna, Ilorin and Taraba axis during the afternoon and evening hours.
NiMet predicted that day and night temperature in the central states would be in the range of 27 – 30 degree Celsius and 21 – 25 degree Celsius respectively, except for Jos that would be in the range of 24 and 17 degree Celsius.
“Rains are anticipated over Enugu, Umuahia, Abakaliki, Owerri and Asaba while other parts of this region are expected to witness cloudy skies during the morning hours.
“There are prospects of rains over Enugu, Umuahia, Abakaliki, Owerri, Asaba, Yenagoa, Port Harcourt, Calabar and Eket axis later in the afternoon and evening hours.
“Day and night temperature is expected to be in the range of 27- 30 degree Celsius and 20 – 23 degree Celsius respectively in the southern states,” NiMet predicted. (NAN)
