The Authority and management of Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki (FETHA), has debunked allegations of fraud, corruption and maladministration in the institution as was published by an online media (names withheld) in the country.
Addressing Journalists in Abakaliki, the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Emeka Onwe Ogah, who described the publication as laughable and an attempt by the enemies of FETHA to engage in character assassination and witch-hunting called on media to always crosscheck their facts and figures before publishing.
According to him, the so-called reporter of the online media never came to FETHA to investigate the information that was given to him by his alleged paymasters even as he was invited on 18th July 2018 to come and verify his facts independently.
“This type of Journalists throw the journalism ethics to the mud, as they do not care, even to cross-check their stories all in a bid to ensure “monies” allegedly given to them do not go back to the owner.
“Meanwhile, this is the story he never cared to crosscheck the facts and lies in them; this is also a story he was kindly invited to come and get the true picture of it, in order to balance his story as a good reporter and he vehemently refused to come and also to forward the allegation.
“A hospital that has a Board of Management that is incorruptible cannot be accused of having just two persons who would turn the hospital into their private establishment where monies are turned into private pockets. These allegations are irrespective of the current administration’s anti-corruption crusade and Treasury Single Account operation. One wonders where those millions come from as to be put in private pockets.”
It was gathered that these allegations are coming on the heels of the CMD’s willingness to go for another term in office.
