Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, met Thursday in the latter’s office in Alausa, Ikeja, in a bid to find a solution to the slow pace of work at the Lagos end of the Lagos-Ibadan railway modernisation project.
The closed-door meeting initiated by Amaechi was held “to find a lasting solution to the grey areas in the execution of the railway project in the state,” one of the Minister’s aides said. He disclosed that the meeting came up with the solution “for problematic areas in the Lagos-Ibadan railway modernisation contract within Lagos State, including Apapa Sea Port.”
“Also both parties agreed that the construction works should commence next week,” the source said, quoting Governor Ambode as saying that the project would be completed within the period of 12 months.”
“The Governor thanked the Federal Government for their contributions, most especially the Honourable Minister of Transportation, for his effort in the completion of rail projects in South West,” the source further said.
