Seasoned political analyst Jimi Disu
The bid by President Muhammadu Buhari to win re-election in 2019 will likely fail, a seasoned political analyst predicted on Wednesday morning.
The analyst, Mr. Jimi Disu, was reacting to the gale of defections that has hit the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the latest of which saw Senate President Bukola Saraki and Kwara State Governor Abdulfattah Ahmed leaving the party yesterday for the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“Buhari will most likely lose the next election,” Mr. Disu said during Front Page and Analysis, his weekday morning newspaper review programme on Classic FM, Lagos.
Giving reasons for his position, the veteran journalist known for his pro-Buhari sentiments, said: “After winning the election in 2015, he (President Buhari) isolated everyone. He did not carry people along.”
The seasoned analyst accused Buhari of running a dictatorship, “an isolated government”, “a sole government.”
Referring to the case of APC National leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who played a key role in the formation of the ruling party, Mr. Disu noted that “even Tinubu has not been well treated” by President Buhari.
“That is not how politics is conducted,” the well-respected analyst said. “I am sure more people will still defect to PDP.”
