Benue APC publicity secretary quits, accuses party of neglect

The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Samuel Agbo has dumped the party, quitting his position in the party.

In a statement announcing his resignation, Agbo on Wednesday accused the APC of neglecting the yearnings and aspirations of the Benue people.

“Under the APC, there’s no justice for Benue. As exemplified by no clear indication by the party’s controlled Federal Government to addressing the challenges facing the state.
“I am aware of the promises made to me by the party in the state. However, I wish to state unequivocally that I cannot trade my life and conscience as well as the future of the state including the fate of thousands of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, for material things,” he said.

He said comments from key actors of President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, body language, actions and inactions had shown a clear case of unwillingness to end the security situation in Benue State.

The former image maker of the party maintained that he has confidence in the ability Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, to giving leadership direction to the actualization of the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state.

Governor Ortom, on Monday, announced his defection from the APC, noting that he has been sent out of APC and is currently exploring a new option to actualise his future ambition.

Agbo speaking on his future political ambition said he will follow the Governor to any political party he joins.
