The All Progressive Congress (APC), Osun State chapter, on Wednesday postponed its governorship primaries, earlier scheduled to hold on Thursday in Osogbo, the state capital.
Though no reason was adduced for the sudden postponement, TribuneOnline reliably gathered that the development might not be unconnected to the crisis and seeming misgivings generated by the adoption of a direct system for the conduct of the exercise.
Already, no fewer than 17 gubernatorial contenders have been cleared by the national leadership of the party to participate in the postponed governorship primary election.
Confirming the postponement to the TribuneOnline in Osogbo, the director of publicity, research and strategy of the APC in the state, Barrister Kunle Oyatomi said “due to unforeseen development, the All Progressives Congress in Osun State has announced the postponement of the primary to choose its gubernatorial flagbearer for September 22 election that was supposed to hold tomorrow, July 19, 2018“.
He stated, “let me tell you that this primary has been shifted from tomorrow (Thursday). This is due to unforeseen circumstances. We would announce new dates later. By the middle of tomorrow, you will hear a new date. I am confirming this to you authoritatively. The party regretted this development but promised that sooner than later, a new date will be fixed. All party members should be on alert”.
