Senator Obinna Ogba
A political group, Ezzagu Youth Assembly (EYA) has expressed dissatisfaction over the poor representation of Senator Obinna Ogba (Ebonyi Central zone) and the member representing Ishielu/Ezza North Federal constituency, Hon. Edward Nwonu both of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Ebonyi state, and consequently passed a vote of no confidence on the two national assembly lawmakers.
In a statement issued yesterday in Abakaliki, the National Leader of Ezzagu Youths Assembly (EYA), Comrade Tobias Offia warned that if the Peoples Democratic Party in the State decides to renominate the two lawmakers for second term, they would not support the party in the 2019 general election.
However, the group also adopted Ebonyi state Governor, Engr. David Umahi as their sole gubernatorial candidate, saying that they were pleased with his giant strides and peace advocacies since he assumed office.
Offia noted that their support for Umahi's reelection was borne out of equity, fairness and justice which the founding fathers of the state clamoured for in the fight for the state creation, stressing that since former two democratically elected governors served for two tenures each, it was expedient for Umahi to be returned in 2019.
Describing them as the poorly performed lawmakers in the state, the group lamented that since the two national assembly members were elected in 2015, they had completely shut out Old Ezzagu people in the scheme of things, relegating most of the promises made during the last election.
Offia noted that it was still worrisome that the electricity project that connects Agba community and Ezzagu zone had become a mirage after all the promises of the two lawmakers.
He said: "On behalf of Old Ezzagu Youths, I want to say that the Senator representing Ebonyi central, Senator Obinna Ogba and the member representing Ishielu/ Ezza North Federal constituency, Hon. Edward Nwonu have disappointed us. We are not happy with them because they have not shown any concerns that they were actually voted by the people".
"They have not remembered us in the employment and empowerment programs. It is sad to note that the electricity project from Agba to Ezzagu community has remained a shadow of itself. We cannot count anything from them since they went to the National Assembly and we make bold to state that we have lost confidence in them.
"We want to stress that if the Peoples Democratic Party goes ahead to give them their return tickets, we will not support the party in the general elections. We need vibrant lawmakers from Ebonyi Central and not self-centred opportunists".
"It's worrisome that Senator Ogba has annihilated our youths from the scheme of things and surrounded himself with non-indigenes that have made his accessibility most difficult or impossible. We will be eager to support any other candidates of the PDP that are tested, trusted and worthy to replicate the good works of the governor, Engr. David Umahi for the grassroots".
Offia assured that the group would galvanize support for all the candidates of the PDP to emerge victorious in the 2019 general elections in the state, stressing that they would soon hold a solidification rally for the governor.
