Stephen Olemija
A member of the House of Representatives, Stephen Olemija, has criticized the Ekiti State-led Peoples Democratic Party government for allegedly punishing the civil servants and pensioners in the state with failure to pay salaries and pensioners’ entitlements.
The lawmaker also said the Governor Ayodele Fayose-led government is punishing the masses in the state through the imposition of high taxes including school children, multiplication of hunger and abrogation of human development programmes being enjoyed during the first tenure of former governor of the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
Olemija spoke on Sunday while on a visit to some communities to canvass for the votes of Ondo State indigenes resident in Ekiti State for Fayemi said the APC will put an end to the hardship allegedly inflicted by the PDP government.
He said failure of the PDP to live up to the expectation of the masses in The state would "provoke a landslide victory" for the candidate of the APC, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, in the July 14 governorship election.
Olemija, who is a member of the APC National Campaign Council for the Ekiti State governorship election, said Fayose's government has run out of lies and tricks adding that the electorate had made up their minds to switch allegiance to the APC over alleged failure to fulfil his electoral promises.
One of the failed promises of the PDP government, according to Olemija, was to banish hunger from the state through stomach infrastructure but regretted that the populace had been inflicted with hunger over failure to pay salaries to workers and entitlements to pensioners.
The legislator who represents Akoko Northeast/Akoko Northwest Federal Constituency of Ondo State said the people of Ekiti are yearning for the return of the APC to provide good governance denied them in the last four years.
He explained that the APC National Campaign Council led by Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu was working tirelessly to ensure Fayemi’s victory and adding Ekiti to the states being controlled by the APC.
The former Akoko Northeast council chairman denied an allegation from the Ekiti PDP that the Akeredolu government is working in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to rig the election. (DailyTrust)
