Osun State Chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) yesterday announced the immediate suspension of its chairman, Mr. Ademola Ishola for alleged misappropriation of funds running into N6 million.

The indefinite suspension, which was announced at a press conference held in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, was also due to the disowning of former deputy governor of the state, Senator Iyiola Omisore by the embattled chairman Speaking at the event, a chieftain of the party, Mr. Timothy Kayode Agboola, said the state Vice-Chairman, Alhaji Ganiyu Babatunde, would act as the party’s chairman in the place of the suspended Ishola.

Other offences alleged to have been committed by the suspended Ishola ranges from failure to render an account of party grants and subvention collected from the past five years. The SDP said it was disappointing for the chairman to have disowned one of the party’s gubernatorial aspirant, Omisore, when the ex-deputy governor has fulfilled all the party requirements to become a party aspirant for the position.

Agboola stressed that the suspended chairman equally collaborated with Mr. Segun Awe, the party’s erstwhile secretary who was suspended by the state executive of the party for misconduct, disobedience to party resolutions and anti-party activities. Among the leaders of the party present at briefing include, Alhaji Ganiyu Babatunde, Emmanuel Adeniji, Assistant Secretary; Oyedele Abiodun, Organizing secretary; Iyabo Olaniyan, Ex-officio; Folahanmi Hazmat,Vice Chairman; Omolabi Joseph, Assistant welfare officer, among others.
