Desmond Elliot (APC, Lagos) and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (PDP, Lagos) will be guest speakers at the programme, ‘Thursday Talks Lagos’, a monthly conversation with thought leaders, change agents and active citizens which aims at driving conversations around the demand for good governance driven by active citizenship. The programme is co-hosted by Budgit and YNaija. The theme for this edition is “Youths & Politics”.

A press statement signed by Tolulope Oladele, Media Team Lead, EIE Nigeria, the organisers, gave reasons for the choice of topic and the speakers. According to the statement, “The notion of good governance is interlinked with institutionalised values such as democracy, adherence to human rights, accountability, transparency, efficiency and effectiveness of the public sector.

“In the wake of the many happenings in the country, particularly the #NotTooYoungToRun bill which was passed at the National Assembly and assented by the President, the need for synergy among youths and active participation in politics cannot be overemphasised.

“The Nigerian youth have taken the back seat in politics and governance. Thus, this month’s edition of Thursday Talks Lagos aims at delving into pertinent issues surrounding politics, enlightening the Nigerian youth on the electoral process and how to actively get involved,” the statement noted.

The programme will be holding at the Civic Hive - 42, Montgomery Road, Sabo Yaba, Nigeria, on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at 5pm. The statement said that the attendance is open and free, but that registration is required at http://bit.ly/ThursdayTalks.
