Cross-section of the new recruits
Former members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, who supported the military in the fight against Boko Haram, have been fully inducted into the Nigeria Army after concluding military training.
The Coordinator, Operation Safe Corridor of the Nigeria Army, Brig.-Gen. Bamidele Shafa, disclosed this at the National conversation on Humanitarian Development Peace Nexus, yesterday, in Abuja, adding that 250 of the members were recruited.
The coordinator explained that other paramilitary agencies have also been instructed to recruit qualified members of civilian JTF, adding that 250 members were recruited. On the issue of allegations of sexualassaults on IDPs by men of the Nigeria Army, Shafa said the Army has commenced investigations into the matter. He noted that Operation Safe Corridor was designed to accommodate repentant Boko Haram members, who have surrendered their arms. (The Guardian)
