The Zonal Head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Port Harcourt Zone, Mr. Nnaghe Obono Itam, has cautioned members of the public to be wary of individuals brandishing fictitious contract awards purportedly from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in order to defraud them.

He gave this warningon Tuesdayin Port Harcourt, Rivers State, at an Interactive meeting with the media. According to him, the Port Harcourt office is receiving complaints from various individuals who were duped by fraudsters claiming spurious contract awards by the NDDC.

“Many of them are going around with fake contract award letters, seeking financiers and promising them juicy interests on their money. They are not real contractors but because the NDDC is here, they are using its name to commit financial and economic crimes. We want the public to steer clear of such fraudsters,” he said.

Itam stressed that genuine contract award by NDDC or any agency can be verified directly from them. Such verification, he said, would make it impossible for any scammer to defraud people of their hard-earned money.
