Late Justice Mustapha Akanbi
Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has expressed sadness over the death of the pioneer Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Justice Mustapha Akanbi.
The governor said he is deeply pained by the loss of the foremost jurist because it came at a time the reform in the judiciary and the war against corruption have reached a stage, where his wise counsel could have been an impetus.
Amosun, in a press statement signed by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Otunba Adedayo Adeneye, described the late former president of the Court of Appeal, as a highly revered judge with an enviable record.
“Late Justice Mustapha Akanbi excelled in his career as a legal practitioner, just as his tenure as the president of the Court of Appeal and chairman of the ICPC were outstanding.
“In particular, he was an anti-corruption czar, whose selfless and fearless services were remarkable in the quest to check corruption in the public service.
“His life was characterised by principle, incorruptibility, steadfastness, integrity and patriotism, qualities worthy of emulation by public servants,” the governor added.
Urging his family to accept the loss as the will of God, Amosun prayed that Allah will grant the late Akanbi mercy.
