Late Chief Mrs Olutoyin Olakunri
Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has mourned the death of the first female Chartered Accountant in Sub-Saharan Africa, Chief (Mrs.) Olutoyin Olakunri, describing her as an accomplished professional.
The governor, in a statement signed by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Adedayo Adeneye, said the death of the deceased is a big blow to the accounting profession.
"Chief (Mrs.) Olutoyin Olakunrin made her mark as an accomplished professional accountant, being the first female chartered accountant in Sub-Saharan Africa as well a founding member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and chief promoter of the Society of Women Accountant of Nigeria (SWAN).
"She demonstrated her versatility as an administrator and captain of industry, in her capacity as the first female president of the Institute of Directors (Nigeria), former member of the National Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Policy Commission, Vision 20:2020 Committee, and Council of the Nigerian Stock Exchange", Amosun said.
The governor hailed the late Olakunrin for exhibiting patriotism as a Nigerian and a committed true daughter of Ogun State.
While praying that her soul rest in peace, he urged the family to take consolation in the fact that their matriarch lived a fulfilled life.
