Nigeria’s influential daily online newspaper,News Express, has announced the appointment of seasoned journalist, activist and trade unionist Garba Muhammad as Regional Editor in charge of the country’s 19 northern states.

News Express Publisher Isaac Umunna said in a statement issuedon Mondayin Lagos that the appointment takes immediate effect.

Previously the Regional Editor, North Central, ofNewswatch, Garba Muhammad had also worked with various leading national dailies. He is a former Kaduna Reporter forThe Sun, Birnin Kebbi Reporter forDaily Trust, as well as Kaduna Reporter of PREMIUMTIMES online newspaper.

An indigene of Kebbi State, Mr. Muhammad has 14 years experience in journalism practice. Former Chairman of the Kaduna State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), he is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Strategic Communication at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
