Ndiagu community in Osikwu town, Awgbu, Orumba North Local Government Area wason Thursday saddenedby the news of the murder of one Miss Onyinye Aguluka by his drunken father, Cletus Aguluka.
It was gathered that the incident which happened at about2amwhen people were in slumberland followed an issue of displacement of the father’s torch.
According to the wife of the suspect, Mrs Georgina Aguluka, trouble started when Onyinye’s father returned home in the night drunk and asked for his torch.
She said his children told him they don’t have an idea of where the torch was, and he was indifferent until at about1amwhen he woke up, went to his room and brought out a matchet and stabbed his daughter to death in her sleep.
Mrs. Aguluka observed that the indiscriminate beating all started when her husband took to drinking.
Speaking on the incident, the immediate younger brother of the man, Mr. Sabastine Aguluka said that his brother has been molesting people especially members of his family.
On their part, the twin brothers of the deceased, Sochima and Chidera Aguluka said they sensed trouble in themidnightand ran out of the house.
According to the duo, their father always looked for excuses to molest them.
News Expresslearnt that Aguluka ran away from the house through the back window of his house on citing some members of the community’s vigilante group who drove into his house.
Onyinye’s body was subsequently buried after autopsy by the police in Awgbu, who also gave her uncle the warrant to take her corpse for burial.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Haruna, said that the suspect was arrested yesterday and would be charged to court after investigation is concluded.
