APC congress
The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State has said that there was no parallel state congress, which took place than that, which produced Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze as Chairman of the party in the state alleged in some quarters.
A chieftain of the party, Mr Ephraim Okike, who spoke with journalists in Abakaliki, said that the state congress stands and could not change as God Almighty has ordained it in heaven.
The congress which attracted 980 delegates from across the 13 local government Areas of the state was conducted under a peaceful atmosphere held at Grand Arena, Nkwagu Ugbala in Abakaliki.
Those who witnessed the peaceful congress include minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, the immediate, past governor Chief Martin Elechi, Sen. Sonni Ogbuoji, representing Ebonyi south senatorial zone including other stakeholders of APC in the state which started at about 3:30pm and ended at about 9pm last Saturday.
Nwachukwu, emerged with a total vote of 775 votes to beat his rival, Hon. Mgbebu, who secured 7 votes only from 980 delegates that voted.
Only the position of state chairman and women leader were the two positions contested, while the other 31 positions were returned unopposed.
Both Hon. Nwachukwu and Mrs. Marcellina including others who emerged unopposed were declared winners by the State Congress Committee Chairman, Hon. Udea at the end of the vote.
“Based on the power confide on me by the National Working Committee of our great APC, l hereby declared Mrs. Ugoeze Marcellina Uburu as the winner of the Ebonyi State Women Leader and Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze, as the state chairman including those that contested unopposed,” he said.
In his remarks, the new chairman, Hon. Nwachukwu Eze lauded the committee members for good a job.
He assured that he would run an open door policy for the party but would not tolerate anti-party activities adding that a new dawn has come for members of APC and the state at large.
