Ex Plateau Gov, Jonah David Jang
A coalition of Plateau Youths on Monday called on security agencies to effect the arrest of Yakubu Jang, son of embattled former Governor of Plateau State, Jonah David Jang for allegedly mobilising cultist to disrupt the trial of his father and a cashier, Yusuf Gyang Pam, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the State High Court In Jos.
Spokesman of the group, Comrade Datiri Pam in a statement in Jos, also commended the security personnel for providing adequate security that enabled the court proceedings to commence.
He queried the foolhardiness of Yakubu for allegedly attempting to disrupt a the EFCC from carrying out its constitutional responsibilities.
The coalition commended the EFCC for bringing Jonah Jang to face justice assuring them of the support of the good people of Plateau State.
Despite the tight security presence within the court premises, there was influx of youth in their hundreds within the premises with placards and shouting in solidarity of Jang, with other Youths shouting Jang return our money!
Justice Daniel Longji of High court Five, Jos had granted leave to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to prefer charges against former Governor of Plateau State, Sen. Jonah David Jang and a cashier, Yusuf Gyang Pam.
Moving a motion exparte, counsel to the EFCC, Rotimi Jacobs, SAN, in an application sought leave of the court time to enable him prefer charges against the two accused persons as required by law
According to the prosecution, due to logistics, he could not get across to EFCC to get the accused for arraignment but however pledged to bring them to court on the next adjourned date
The application having not been opposed by the accused’s counsel Robert Clarke SAN, Justice Daniel Longji adjourned the matter toWednesday, May 16, 2018,for arraignment and hearing on their bail applications.
