Reps make U-turn on 2018 Budget passage, adjourn plenary

House of Representatives in session

The House of Representatives has adjournedTuesday’splenary without laying the 2018 appropriation bill for passage as earlier promised.

Recall that the spokesman, Abdulrazaak Namdas, last week, promised that everything about the 2018 budget would be treated today (Tuesday) and passed this week but the reverse was the case.

Meanwhile, Senate President Bukola Saraki told journalists after meeting with President Buharion Monday, saying that the lawmakers hope to pass the appropriation bill soon.

According to what he told journalists: “Well, hopefully, it should be laid this week. If it can’t be laid this week, early next week but we are hoping it will be laid this week.”

Calculatively, it has been over four months since President Muhammadu Buhari presented the budget to the lawmakers.
