Kano State House of Assembly has placed six months suspension on the Chairman of Dambatta local government area of the state, Alhaji Idris Haruna Zago.
Zago was suspended for alleged revealing government secrets, refusal to inaugurate elected councillors and violation of an agreement reached on local government secretary.
The house also directed the acting chairman to swear-in the secretary and the elected councillors within 24 hours.
Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Gama, member from Nassarawa local government, brought the matter to the floor of the house under matter of public importance.
Gama said, "The suspension becomes necessary in order to serve as a deterrent to others. The man has violated Kano state Local Government Law 2006."
He explained that according to the law, the suspended chairman should have inaugurated the elected councillors within three weeks after he assumed office.
Gama also told the house that revealing government secrets was a grave offence that could not be overlooked by the house
