The ongoing governorship primary of the APC in Ekiti state has been disrupted by people suspected to be political thugs.

The exercise, which is taking place at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti went into hitches following an alleged attempt by an agent of a particular aspirant to undermine the process.

Delegates from five of the 16 local governments, statutory delegates and members of the State Executive Council had cast their votes before the exercise was disrupted.

The councils where delegated had cast their votes were Ado, Moba, Ilejemeje, Ekiti East and Efon while Ijero was next to vote when the process was abruptly disrupted.

The chairman of the Ekiti APC Governorship Primary, Alhaji Tanko Al-Makura is presently in a crucial meeting with all the 33 governorship aspirants in one of the offices in the stadium complex.

But security men are jealously guiding the votes already cast.

It is expected that the Al-Makura-led committee will brief the press after the meeting.

The disruption caused panic and confusion as many of the delegates who were yet to cast their votes had to hurriedly leave the stadium. (Daly Trust)
