Investigative journalist and former editor of AljazirahNigeria Newspapers, Gbenga Odunsi has joined News Express as Acting Editor.

News Express is Nigeria’s leading online newspapers published daily, including weekends, without waiting for newsbreaks, and has a provision for occasional special print editions. The newspaper was founded by Africa’s international award-winning journalist, Mr. Isaac Umunna.

Before his appointment, Odunsi has been the deputy editor for Quakes News Media, and also the editor for AljazirahNigeria Newspapers from where he resigned earlier this year.

Umunna said in a statement issued on Sunday in Lagos: “We are happy to have Gbenga Odunsi join us we transform from a publishing company to a publishing and events company. After editing News Express for the first over five years of its existence, I am happy to hand over the baton to Gbenga, a thoroughbred professional, confident that he will play a critical role in our fight to remain Nigeria’s global voice.”

Commenting on his appointment, Odunsi said: “I want to assure the management and entire editorial team of News Express that I will do all my best in ensuring that the paper gains more popularity in Nigeria and globally. In few months’ time, News Express will become a household name in the world.”

“In moving News Express forward, there are lots of works to do. I cannot do it all alone, I want to appeal to the editorial team to support and cooperate with me to jointly move the medium to lofty height in online journalism,” he added.
