Group canvasses appointment of Comrade Chuma as APGA image maker

APGA chieftain, Comrade Harris Chuma

A group led by Comrade Israel Chuks has called on the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to appoint Comrade Harris Chuma as the National Publicity Secretary of the party to replace Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye who has been appointed as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Anambra State on Political matters

Comrade Chuks, an online media person and a strong political mobiliser in the state said APGA needed somebody like Chuma to shore its political base if it has such plans to overtake PDP and the APC in coming years.

“Publicity is one of the tools that sell a product in digital world more. APGA cannot match the prowess of PDP and APC at the National level; there’s need for image propagation, that’s how APC came to be. While the party’s National Working Committee is bent on making things work at the National Park of politics, the results might not manifest when there’s no gong to sound out and relate with the media across the country.

“Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, tried his all for the party but was nowhere near the strength of APC nor PDP. The party needs the person that would contribute immensely to her positive fortunes and take it to the next level within a short period of time.

“APGA needs a thoroughbred professional, who is with the media and an image maker who will always project and defend the party in the face of vicious attacks from media urchins and other gladiators aiming to deter the efforts of the hardworking National Working Committee.

“APGA is facing serious image issue as most people regard it as the Igbo Party. We need a socialist and great communicator who has the capacity and prowess to rebrand and propagate the party for possible National integration,” Comrade Chuks said.

He also noted, “Having worked alongside Comrade Harris Chuma during Anambra gubernatorial elections, I can state without fear or favour that he’s the all-round best for the position. Let’s also note that him and alongside few people single-handedly built APC on the media; he commands great respect among other professionals. The capacity Joe Igbokwe and other APC publicists operate in was formerly mastered by him prior to 2015 general elections. He led them. To the media he voiced and published for the APC party that allowed them gain ground in the media ahead of PDP.”

“We must send our best when it comes to such competitive conditions. He is determined to fight it dirty when it concerns good governance and mage making.

“Comrade Harris Chuma is the only one I know who can combine his know how as a media person and experience in government to push for a better image for APGA. Chuma also has the energy and expertise to harness all the potentials of the party in his image remaking task and has garnered newsroom experience to relate well with media handlers in the country.

“He is stuffed politically. He knows how best to achieve a particular result. He is a plus for APGA if there’s any intention at all to make the party a national one and compete anywhere with either PDP or APC.

“He’s currently the Director General (DG) of Independent Media Support Organisation (IMSO), an umbrella he established in 2017 to provide security, reliable information, as well as protect the rights of Journalists in Anambra State during the Anambra Gubernatorial elections of 2017.

“He is also an anti-corruption crusader and advocate of good and transparent governance. He shares same vision and agenda with APGA i.e. transparency and good leadership,” he said, adding,” It will be a walk-over on publicity with Dr. Harris Chuma, if APGA heeds this advice.”
