Fayoses deputy and preferred successor, Prof Kolapo Olusola Eleka
The Ekiti Grassroots Movement (EGM) has released a timetable to kick-start what it described as Operation Neighbour to Neighbour outreach for Governor Ayodele Fayose’s continuity agenda, and to equally support the candidacy of Deputy Governor, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka.
Eleka is one of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leading aspirants in the governorship election slated for July 14, 2018 the across the 16 local governments in the state.
The State Coordinator, Mr Adesuyi Alex, stated this during a recent caucus meeting of EGM held at Ado Ekiti.
At the meeting were the entire central working committee of the group and the local government coordinators.
EGM said after the meeting that it would go ahead with its earlier plan to mobilise people from all the 16 local governments to do their voters’ registration so as to participate in the election.
“We are going to mobilise those who have not registered massively to the nearest INEC office in their respective local government to register within the shortest time so as to get their PVC ready for the coming election. So, they can be part of the determinants in the election,” Alex stated.
According to EGM, the publication of the ‘Neighbour to Neighbour’ campaign would take place from March 5, 2018 to April 5, 2018 in the following order:
Ekiti East: 5th – 6th
Ikole: 7th – 8th
Emure: 8th – 10th
Ise/Orun: 11th – 12th
Gboyin: 13th –14th
Ijero: 15th –16th
Moba: 17th – 18th
Ilejemeje: 19th – 20th
Oye: 21th – 22th
Efon: 23 – 24
Ido-Osi: 25th – 26th
Ekiti West: 27th -28th
Ekiti South-West: 29th – 30th
Irepodun: 31st – 1st
Ado: 2nd – 3rd
Ikere: 4th – 5th
Mr. Alex, while discussing the need for every well meaning Ekiti to be more pro-active in the decision making of the state, said it was expedient to consolidate on the continuity agenda of the incumbent government for speedy development and robust developmental plans.
According to the Public Relation Officer of the group, Mr. Rasheed, the decision of the group to commence “Neighbour to Neighbour campaign” in earnest was borne out of the passion for the continuity agenda of the government sequel to the visible infrastructural developments in the state.
