Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mohammed Babandede arrowed during the APC caucus meeting

The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mohammed Babandede, is among the leaders of ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Jigawa State who attended the party’s caucus meeting at African Continental Hotel, Kaduna on Saturday.

Mr Babandede was appointed Comptroller-General of Immigration, following the sack of Martin Abeshi by President Muhammadu Buhari in May 2016.

Sources said Mr Babandede, who hails from Hadejia Local Government of Jigawa State, is nursing senatorial ambition for Jigawa North West Senatorial District.

Nigerian security operational guidelines frown against partisanship by security officials.

It was gathered that Mr Babandede was among the party leaders who passed a vote of confidence on the state governor, Badaru Abubakar, “for his sterling performance”.

The extended caucus meeting had in attendance the Jigawa State governor, Badaru Abubakar; his deputy, Ibrahim Hadejia; Speaker of the House of Assembly, Isa Gwaram; and Senators Abdullahi Gumel and Sabo Nakudu.

Also in attendance were party leaders Farouk Aliyu, Bello Mai-Sudan, Isa Gerawa, Ali Magashi and Danladi Sankara.

The meeting, chaired by the state party chairman Ado Sani Kiri, had members of the national and state assemblies in attendance.

A statement by Mr Badaru’s media aide, Auwal Sankara, said the party leaders deliberated on various issues, especially the assessment of the present state of the party and the plans ahead.

“The party bigwigs commended the governor for what they described as his spectacular performance across all sectors of the state’s polity and economy at these very trying times the country is facing.

“The caucus assured him of unalloyed support in order to strengthen and encourage him to complete and accomplish full implementation of his ongoing projects and programmes, and also commended the state’s representatives at both the national and state Assemblies for their effective and robust legislative contributions,” said the statement.

Spokesman for the Nigerian Immigration Service, Sunday James, could not be reached as at the time of filing in this report.
