Katsina State Governor, Hon Aminu Masari
The Katsina State Government has said a total of 1,900 primary and secondary school teachers have been employed to boost education sector in the state.
The State Commissioner of Education, Badamasi Charanchi, made this known in an interview on Thursday in Katsina.
Mr Charanchi said that the state government accorded the sector priority by allocating 35 per cent of its 2018 budget to education.
“The state government has rehabilitated 150 primary schools and 15 secondary schools in 2017.
“Government also constructed additional classrooms in some boarding secondary schools across the three senatorial districts in the state,” the commissioner said.
He said that the state government also promoted 1,000 secondary and primary school teachers to boost their morale.
Mr Charanchi said that some of the newly promoted teachers had been stagnated by the previous administrations for over 10 years.
According to him, the state government made provision of N77 million as refund to parents, who sponsored their children to sit for the 2017 WAEC and NECO Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations.
The commissioner urged parents and guardians, whose children scored credit pass in five subjects and above, to present their documents for a refund of the examination fees. (NAN)
