Wife of Anambra State Governor, Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano, has celebrated the birth of male twins at Oba village, Uke in Idemili North Council Area of the state, who emerged first babies of the year, 2018 in the state.
The twins were delivered at Uke Primary Health Centre in the community at about 12:05 am and 12:30 am on the first day of the year.
Addressing the people of Uke at the Health Centre, the Governor's wife who was represented by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oby Nkem-Okeke, noted that it was the first time an indigene of the state was benefiting from the programme since its inception four years ago.
She described the babies’ arrival as a new dawn and sign of more good things for the state, and prayed that they grow up to become good citizens of the state.
Speaking with News Express, the Senior Nursing Officer in charge of the Health Centre, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Nwafor, expressed joy on the history the twins’ birth has created for the Centre.
According to her, the mother of the twins arrived the health centre at about 11:20 p.m. on December 31, 2017 and delivered without much stress.
For the father of the babies, Mr. Mbanefo Egbunine, whose joy knew no bounds, he thanked God for blessing them with twins in the New Year, promising to raise them with the fear of God.
In their separate speeches, the traditional ruler of Uke community, Igwe Amara Charles, and the President General of the town, Mr. Ikedi Obi, thanked God for such a blessing to the town saying that it has drawn government closer to them.
They expressed hope that the babies would mark the beginning of better things that would come to the area and the state at large under Governor Willie Obiano’s government.
They, however, advised parents of the twins to endeavour to train them to become good ambassadors of the community and the state at large.
