Governor Okowa

Less than 48 hours to the local government council elections in Delta State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has recorded a haul of decampees from the All Progressives Congress (APC) with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa assuring that his administration would not relent in providing good governance.

One of the major financier of the APC in the state, Chief Felix Anirah moved his crop of members of the APC to the PDP at a “special reception rally” held in Sapele, saying they were tired of the APC.

Okowa, who accompanied by the state PDP Chairman, Barrister Kingsley Esiso, observed that Anirah's return to the PDP was “the return of a big fish.”

He commended those who contributed to the return of those who left the PDP for other political parties, asserting: “We cannot lose sight of the fact that it is the political party that brought us to where we are today. So, we will continue to welcome our members back to the umbrella party.”

“We will continue to work for our people. You should ensure that you go out on Saturday to vote,” the Governor said.

Anirah said it was a home-coming for him in the PDP, disclosing that APC National Chairman, Chief Odigie Oyegun tried to dissuade him from going back to the PDP but, he said there was nothing left for the APC to offer him.

“Before I came here, APC National Chairman called me and I told him that since APC is no longer convenient for me and my people, we are moving back to our party, the PDP. We will test our strength on Saturday during the local government council elections. The APC will not get any councilllorship seat. And the victory will be repeated in the general elections so that all will know that PDP is fully in control of Delta State,” the former APC chieftain said.

Chief Paulinus Akpeki observed that withAnirah'sreturn to the PDP, there is no more opposition in the state, especially in Sapele.

Esiso observed that with the return of the state leader of the APC to the PDP, “there is no more elements of opposition in the state.”
