Anglican Bishop of Awka, Most Rev Alexander Ibezim
The Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Anambra State, Most Rev Alexander Ibezim, has cautioned Nigerians on the blame game against President Muhammadu Buhari over the travails of the country.
The bishop, who addressed journalists in Awka on Sunday, observed that Nigeria’s problem is beyond an individual.
He noted that if individuals, families, Christians, Moslems etc, can play their role well, governance will be easier.
Ibezim called for concerted efforts on repositioning the country and urged Nigerians to continue to pray for President Buhari to lead Nigeria aright.
On youth unemployment, Ibezim described the issue as a “cancerous concern”, saying that something must be done urgently to save the present generation of Nigerian youths from being a wasted crop of individuals.
According to him, the growing agitation in the country is a product of economic difficulties.
The bishop further called on the Federal Government to conduct a research aimed at finding out why Nigerians that were hitherto living peacefully together had suddenly turned against themselves.
His words. “The trouble with Nigeria was beyond one single individual.
“What we see is that all of us will intend to blame one single individual for the country’s woes.
“This is wrong. I tell you if individuals, families, Christians, Moslems, and so on should do their bits well, governance will be easy; governance will be simple.
“We were living together with cattle herders, but today it’s no longer so. The Federal Government should commission professionals to conduct a research to know what the causes of this disunity are.”
