Yusuf Buhari
Facts have emerged on how Yusuf Buhari, the son of President Muhammadu Buhari, narrowly escaped death in a bike accident on Tuesday night.
Quoting unnamed reliable sources, the Abuja-based DAILY NIGERIAN said that the crash occurred on Tuesday night when Yusuf was racing with a friend in the capital city.
“Yusuf was trying to overtake his friend when he suddenly veered off the road and skidded. He lay there unconscious for a while before the first lady was alerted,” the paper quoted a family source who preferred anonymity as saying.
“She ordered that he be immediately rushed to Cedarcrest Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. We are more concerned about the head injury than the fractures,” the report further said.
As reported earlier this evening by News Express, the Presidency on Wednesday afternoon confirmed the accident via a statement issued by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu. He said that the accident happened last night around Gwarimpa in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The short statement reads: “Yusuf Buhari had a bike accident last night around Gwarimpa in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
“He broke a limb and had an injury to the head as a result. He has undergone surgery at a clinic in Abuja. He is in a stable condition.
“The President and his wife, Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, are thankful to Nigerians for the good wishes and prayers for their son.
“May God reward you all.”
