Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Alhaji Kabiru Taminu Turaki, has promised the Federal Government’s support for partnership of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission and the Lotterie Nationale du Niger (Niger Lottery Commission).
He made this promise when Director-General of the Lotterie Nationale du Niger, Madam Talata Rhamatuo, visited him in Abuja. Madam Rhamatuo came in company of the Director-General and management of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission.
According to Turaki, “We are going to ensure that whatever it will taketo nurture the relationship, we will do it in the overall benefit of Nigeria and Niger.”
The minister said that President Goodluck Jonathan is ready to do all that is needed to open up the lottery business in Nigeria, enabling it to grow funds and create employment. He noted that strategic partnership between the two countries in the area of lottery business would deepen Nigeria’s knowledge and understanding of the business.
The Nigerien delegation had come to Nigeria to see how the lottery regulatory authorities in the two countries can work together, introduce Nigeria to the Africa Lottery Association and intimate Nigeria of the Africa Lottery Association election coming up in Dakar, Senegal, in March. The relationship was established three years ago by the lottery regulatory authorities of the Nigeria and Niger when the National Lottery Regulatory Commission visited Niger was being consolidated by the visit of Madam Rhamatuo.
The visit of the Nigerien delegation came on the heels of the joint working visit of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission and the National Lottery Trust Fund to the United Kingdom understudy the UK’s lottery business.
