Anambra Central: Jan 13th election sacrosanct — Umeh

APGA chieftain Victor Umeh

The senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the Anambra Central senatorial election, Chief Victor Umeh, yesterday dismissed the John Tsoho Abuja High court ruling which has ordered Dr. Obiora Okonkwo to be sworn in as the winner of the Central senatorial election, saying that election fixed for January 13, 2018 is sacrosanct.

Speaking at the flag-off of his campaign at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, Umeh recalled that the Appeal Court Enugu on December 7, 2014 ruled that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) did not hold any primary for the senatorial election and threw the case out.

Based on that ruling, Hon Uche Ekwunife, was ousted from the senate chambers.

According to him, the Court of Appeal Enugu holds the final say in election matters and for that reason, no other court of law can challenge the ruling.

Umeh while querying the supremacy in law between Enugu Appeal Court and Enugu High Court, called on APGA faithful to ignore the judgement and dust their voters’ cards against January 13th.

Umeh said: “January 13th election as fixed by INEC for the Anambra Central Senatorial election will hold. Nobody or court can challenge the ruling of the Appeal Court.

“Abuja High Court ruling cannot stand. It is null and void.”

He expressed doubt the senate president will swear in Okonkwo because even the Supreme Court also sacked.

Umeh further queried the Abuja High court ruling, demanding how Okonkwo can be declared winner when PDP primary for the emergence of their party’s candidate did not hold.

“Is it the PDP primary election that was nullified or what?” Umeh asked. He urged Anambra people especially APGA members to ignore the recent the recent Abuja ruling.
