The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has directed that re-run congresses be held in six local government areas in Anambra State.

This directive was contained in a letter sent to Anambra PDP through its new State Chairman, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, and read to the members in Awka.

Addressing journalists at the party’s secretariat in Awka on Monday, the new State Chairman reeled out the local government areas affected to include Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Idemili North, Idemili South, Aguata and Ihiala.

Nwobu, who returned to the state from Abuja after the party’s National Convention, said it was expedient to reconcile all aggrieved members of the party in the state.

According to him, personalities like Chief Chris Uba, Senator Joy Emodi, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah, among others, are needed in the party in order to give other political parties serious fight.

He added: “This is the time to get it right in PDP Anambra, if the party is to make a head way in the 2019 presidential election.

“PDP has continued to show that it is democracy personified and we have no doubt that it will take Nigeria to the Promised Land.”

“Ours here in Anambra is to make sure that PDP is strongly rooted in the state and I'm extending my hands of fellowship to all the aggrieved members in making sure that the party works again.

“We are setting up a committee to this effect because we need all our leaders in the party but most importantly we need the grassroots. Once you have registered yourself with the grassroots, the rest will add up.”

Before briefing journalists, prayers were offered to hand over the affairs of the party to God with Nwobu at the helm of affairs.
