Advertising’s foremost regulatory body, the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), has been rated the 97th best company to work for in Nigeria.
This rating came from Jobberman.com, a frontline jobs website reputed to provide up-to-date vacancies in small and medium enterprises, companies and governmental institutions in Nigeria, which carried out a study in 2013 to determine the 100 best companies to work for in Nigeria.
This position was communicated to APCON in a congratulatory message from Mr. Ayodeji Adewunmi, president and CEO of Jobberman.com, to the Registrar/Chief Executive of APCON, Alhaji Garba Bello Kankarofi.
He wrote: “It is with great pleasure and excitement that I congratulate APCON as one of the best 100 best companies to work for in Nigeria. It is a well-deserved recognition for your relentless commitment and invaluable contributions to the lives of your employees and the Nigerian community at large; and a wonderful tribute to your leadership and aspirations for the council.”
Mr. Adewunmi appreciated the managerial skills of the leadership of APCON, noting: “Your keen efforts with the unfeigned support of your team has successfully portrayed APCON as an ideal role model for corporate Nigeria, and by publicizing great companies like yours do we hope to channel the right talents to the jobs of their dream.”
The methodology of the study, according to Jobberman.com, was a survey of 10,000 employees in Nigeria. It said that over 5,000 companies were submitted by 10,482 respondents. Companies employing not less than 100 full-time permanent employees were rated on such variables as company culture, salary, non-salary benefits, proximity to company location, prestige/company brand, management integrity and commitment to staff welfare.
Rated the number one on the list is Shell Petroleum Development Company. An advertising company also rated is Insight Communications Limited, which came in the 98th position.
