Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State yesterday flagged off the construction of an 8.5km road and sinking of borehole projects in Azuinyaba community in Inyaba North Development Centre of Ishielu Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking during the exercise, Umahi who stressed that the key agenda of his administration was to ensure that infrastructural development was not concentrated at the urban areas alone noted that the initiative would not only give the rural dwellers a sense of belonging but also expand the frontier of the development in the state.

Represented by his Senior Special Assistant, SSA, on Rural Development, Chief Enekwachi Akpa, Umahi enjoined stakeholders to join hands with his administration towards the provision of basic amenities to the people of the State and commended the initiator of the project and philanthropist for the initiative even as he promised to partner individuals or groups for the development of the state.

In his remarks, the initiator of the project and philanthropist, Chief Raphael Chukwu, stated that the idea behind the gesture to his people was for him to complement Governor David Umahi’s effort in the area of infrastructural development and uplift the living standard of the people of Azuinyaba community.

According to him, government cannot do everything for us and so it is important that stakeholders in various communities in the state pull their resources together and support the laudable projects of the present administration.

“Governor Umahi has done well and we must support him. This is like giving back to my community. I love my people and want the best things of life to come to them. Those living in our communities need our assistance. Every impact you make in the rural community will always be appreciated.”

He said further extolled the Governor for all the ongoing projects in Ishielu local government area of the state, especially the peace that has returned in the area even as he described the Governor as a visionary and pragmatic person who is working assiduously to improve the living standard of every Ebonyian.
