Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State
Imo State Government has given one-week ultimatum to auto mechanics staying within 15 kilometres radius of Owerri capital territory to re-locate to Avu Modern Mechanic Village or risk demolition.
Mr Kingsley Uju, the Deputy Chief of Staff Government House disclosed this on Tuesday while addressing mechanics, traders of new Market Owerri and auto dealers at the Imo International Conference Centre, Owerri (IICC).
Uju said that the relocation is part of the state government’s urban renewal initiative programme and that the ultimatum ends by Tuesday next week, warning that no auto mechanic should try to dare the power of the state government.
He pointed out that the state government has already allocated free land to over 90% of the mechanics in the new site through their unit leaders and those yet to be allocated land will receive their own allocation within the week.
The Deputy Chief of Staff also informed that the state government has provided all the basic infrastructures needed by the auto mechanics for their smooth take off in the area they have been relocated to. (The AUTHORITY)
