APGA to Anambra voters: ‘Your PVC is your power’

Obianos Re-Election Campaign DG, Victor Umeh

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) on Thursday called on eligible voters in Anmabra State who took part in the last Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) to ensure that they obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Speaking at a rally organised for the party in Orumba North and South Local Government Area of the state, the Director General of Chief Willie Obiano re-election Committee, Chief Victor Umeh, said that the PVC was the only power every eligible voter has to be able to make a choice.

He said that the love they have shown for the incumbent governor by gracing the rally could only be reflected in their individual votes for APGA.

Umeh urged the people not to allow APGA which he described as a legacy bequeathed by Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu to Igbo people to be extinguished by supporting the party massively

His words; “Distribution of PVC has started; all of you here have shown love for Obiano by coming in this large number to show support for the working governor.

“Another way of showing support for APGA is by going to the INEC designated centers to pick your PVC before the three days expires. That is the only power you have to ensure that Obiano is re-elected.

“Our governor has done well in his first term and deserves a second term; moreover, APGA is what we have, a legacy handed over to us by our leader, Dim Emeka Ojukwu, This is our own.”

Addressing the party faithful, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo called on the people of Old Aguata Union to vote for APGA, as Obiano had laid a solid foundation for the economic prosperity of Anambra adding that a vote for APGA was the shortest route of the union to getting the governorship slot.

While noting that the OAU was tired of playing a second fiddle as deputy governor, in the state, he observed that Obiano was the only candidate in the race who would make the seat to shift to South Senatorial District of the state after four years.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ben Nwankwo, (PDP Orumba North and Orumba South Federal Constituency), who dumped PDP for APGA at the event, said his decision was informed by the outstanding leadership of APGA government under governor Obiano.

He said that though he had been elected into the lower legislative chambers three times on the platform of PDP, he felt it necessary to support Obiano who he added, had done well since he assumed office.

According to Nwankwo, he crossed over to APGA with about two thousand members of his former party in the area and promised to lend unreserved support for the party.

The Hon member of the House of Representative further urged Obiano to hand over power to Anambra South when his tenure expires and ensure that those just joining APGA were not treated as strangers.

Receiving, the decampee and his supporters, the state governor, Willie Obiano said he would not relent in his resolve to see that all communities in the state were developed.

He announced free healthcare and social security stipend for the elderly in the state above 75 years saying that youth development and empowerment remained paramount to his administration.

While urging the youths to register in their various local government areas for profiling and empowerment, he said that more jobs would be provided for the youths in the area through the building of two companies which are already set out in a plan.

On his part, the Chairman of Orumba North local government area, Mr Emeka Aforka, said there were no abandoned projects in the council from the previous administration.

He gave assurance that Orumba people would massively vote and protect their vote for Obiano, and warned people with the intention of rigging themselves into power to stay clear of the area.
