A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the service of subpoena on former president, Goodluck Jonathan over the trial of former PDP spokesman, Olisa Metuh.
Justice Okon Abang on Tuesday directed the court officials to serve Jonathan for him to serve the signed subpoena to enable the former president to appear on Wednesday alongside former NSA, Sambo Dasuki.
Metuh and his company, Destra Investments Ltd are facing a seven-count charge of receiving the sum of N400m from the former National Security Adviser (NSA), retired Col. Sambo Dasuki since January, 2016.
Dfence counsel, Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN) informed the court that his chambers wrote Jonathan over the need to make him a witness without a response, adding that the defence will apply for a subpoena against Jonathan at the conclusion of Dasuki’s evidence.
The court had in compliance with the order of the Appeal Court in Abuja on September 29, served a subpoena on Dasuki to testify in the case.
But Dasuki’s lawyer, Ahmed Raji (SAN) said his client who has been detained for two years cannot be compelled to testify because he is.not in the state of mind to do so.
He added thaf he would need to be granted bail to refresh his memory of the records of events. (Daily Trust)
