St Philips Catholic Church, Ozubulu, where innocent worshippers were masacred
The Anglican Bishop of Ihiala Diocese in Anambra State, Rt. Rev. Israel Okoye, has called on the Nigerian Police Force to make public the outcome of their investigations into the murder of over 13 worshippers at St Philips Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.
The cleric made the statement on Sunday while delivering his presidential address at the occasion of the first session of the Third Synod at the Cathedral Church of St. Silas, Ihiala. He also urged the State Government to make public the actions it is taking on the issue.
His words: “We hope that the report of the investigation will not be buried with the dead. We therefore call on the Nigerian Polic Force to disclose their findings and the actions being taken by the government on the issue.”
Rt. Rev. Okoye further insisted that there should be no room for any delay or skewed interest in the investigations
The government and the police had after the attack, two months ago, promised to unmask those behind the heinous crime in order to prosecute the perpetrators.
News Express recalls that some gun men had gone to the church in search of a South Africa-based philanthropist, Chief Alloysius Ikegwuonu, but missed him and in an apparent show of anger and frustration opened fire on the unsuspecting worshipers.
