Late Odumegwu-Ojukwu
The leader of Biafra Independence Movement and founder of Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (BIM-MASSOB), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, has said that preparations for the celebration of the 5th memorial anniversary of the Biafra leader, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu has commenced.
He said the ceremony is expected to kick off at the Ojukwu memorial library auditorium in new Owerri, Imo State capital on Sunday, November 26, 2017.
According to a statement made available to Journalists in Onitsha, by Uwazuruike’s Media Assistant, Mazi Chris Mocha, Uwazuruike paid a glowing tribute to the late Ikemba Nnewi whom he described as the greatest Igbo man of the present generation as well as a mentor whom he had so much respect for.
The statement read: “Ojukwu is one of the three heroes that ever existed on this planet earth, including Mahatma Ghandhi of India and Dr. Nelson Mandela of South Africa.
“Since 2013, we had always remembered Ojukwu on an annual basis and although he has died, we still believe that he lives.
“I must make bold to state that Ojukwu deserves the memorial anniversary celebration because whenever the issue of Biafra was reflected, the late Biafra icon’s name must be mentioned first.
“So, we are keeping a date with November 26 for such an epoch-making annual event.”
