Governor Obiano
The campaign team of Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano appears to be experiencing some cracks following alleged threat by the Director-General of his campaign team, Chief Victor Umeh to resign.
Since after that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) flagged-off the governorship campaign at Ekwueme Square, Umeh has remained a silent leader in the team.
The unusual calm demeanor of Umeh has left people wondering what has happened to the flamboyant campaigns Umeh is known with, as recorded during Obiano’s first tenure and during his own senatorial campaign.
News Expresslearnt that Umeh may have been tossed to the DG seat without the paraphernalia of office and the tool to go to work.
One of Umeh's media aides who pleaded anonymity said that his boss has given Obiano a 14-day ultimatum mandating him to release the campaign funds allegedly estimated to the tune of N7.5 billion into the campaign account.
Our source said that Umeh had threatened to quit after the stated date even though he is currently campaigning with the team.
Information also revealed that the campaign funds has been placed in the control of the Governor’s wife, hence any fund to be released for campaign must be approved her.
In his reaction, a member of the campaign team, who does not want his name on print, said that Obiano’s campaign is strong with a united force adding that “the allegation is part of the antics of the opposition camp to cause disunity in ‘the winning team.'”
