3,000 members dump APC for PDP

No fewer than 3,000 supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba yesterday dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing disagreements rocking the state chapter of the party.

Speaking during a ceremony to welcome at the PDP state secretariat in Jalingo, a former Speaker of the Taraba State Assembly, Mr. Simon Dogari, who led over 3,000 supporters, said they decided to leave the party due to lingering disagreement in the state chapter of the party.

He noted that while the APC leadership in the state lacked focus, the PDP on the other hand had a sense of direction and commitment to progressive ideals of social and political well-being and economic development.

“We have seen the sense of direction and commitment for progress by the PDP and decided to join the party to enable us contribute our quota for the development of the state,” he said.

Receiving the defectors, State PDP Chairman, Mr. Victor Bala Kona, urged them to feel at home, saying most of the people involved were members of the PDP before they left for the APC.

Bala assured them that the PDP was at the moment, totally committed to internal democracy so as to win the confidence of the electorate and thanked them for having confidence in the PDP, assuring that they would be treated equally as members of one family.

The chairman expressed optimism that PDP would win all elections in the state and the 2019 presidential election. (Nigerian Pilot)
