Obiano’s govt. a disaster — Nwoye

Anambra APC governorship candidate, Comrade Tony Nwoye

Comrade Tony Nwoye, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the November 18, 2017 governorship election in the state has described the APGA leadership in the state under the leadership of Governor Willie Obiano as a monumental failure, saying that his government has impoverished the people and rendered all the sectors of the state economy moribund.

He said his prime purpose of vying to lead the state was to put food on people’s tables once more.

Nwoye, who addressed journalists on Monday shortly after a meeting with APC executives in the state, said the government of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state had not done anything tangible to address the people’s welfare

He said: “Governor Willie Obiano has betrayed the confidence reposed in him by the people of the state who voted for him in the 2013 election.

“It’s not an exaggeration that many families in the state go to bed without one square meal while others have fled their homes because they could no longer provide the basic needs of life for their loved ones.

“After three years of the Obiano administration, there is nothing to show for it while poverty in the State has reached an unprecedented level.

“Those around the Governor, including his commissioners, have refused to tell him the truth and advise him on the reality on ground.

“I don’t like the way the masses are allowed to wallow in destitution and penury. The people are in the worst condition that needs urgent attention.”

Nwoye maintained that the current APGA government does not care to rehabilitate deplorable hospitals across the state to enable the people get good medical attention adding that if urgent steps are not taken to address the present situation in the state, the citizens will in a short time begin to die of hunger.

In a reaction, Obiano said Nwoye did not possess the competence to be a local government chairman, not to talk of ruling a state such as Anambra.

Obiano, who spoke through his media aid, Prince Oliver Okpala, said that those eyeing his seat should tell the people of the state what they would do differently to better their lots instead of engaging in calumnies and destructive gimmicks.

He stressed that no amount of hate campaigns against him would change the minds of the electorate in the state from voting for him in the November 18 poll because his achievements were all over the place for people to see.

He further described himself as a tested and trusted technocrat who reached the apogee of his career as an accountant in one of the best banks in the country.

He added: “The person that is castigating me does not have the competence and pedigree to manage a local government area, even his ward.

“They are talking of change; what are they coming to change? Are they coming to change the payment of civil servants that is done on or before 25th of every month or the face of Awka that looks like Dubai? What are they coming in to do?”
