Counsel to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Bar. Clems Ezika, on Tuesday called the governorship aspirants who lost to Mr. Oseloka Obaze during the primary held on Monday in Awka to sheath their sword and join hands with the winner to ensure victory for the party in the November 18, governorship election in the state.

Ezika who is a founding member of PDP in the state and a former local government chairman of Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state made the call on the heels of a court action instituted by one of the aspirants, Mr. Ifeanyi Ubah, in an Anambra High Court sitting in Awka after losing to third place in the primary.

Obaze, a retired Diplomats and former secretary to the Anambra State government, had at the end of the primary defeated Ubah and Obiogbolu with 672 votes after three of the aspirants withdrew from the race in the morning of the primary.

Defendants in the suit No A/346/2017 filed before the vacation judge in Awka were INEC, PDP, the National Secretary of the PDP Care Taker Committee, Senator Ben Obi and the Chairman of the Care Taker Committee of the party in Anambra State, Professor Alphonsus Nwosu.

The suit, which was instituted on behalf of Ubah by Bar. Ben Chuks Nwosu had an attachment of list of what the plaintiff has as his own list compiled for the purpose of the primary.

Meanwhile, the list compiled by Ubah was different from the result of the ward congress conducted by the Governor Nyesom Wike led panel, which was authenticated by the ad hoc electoral appeal panel headed by the former Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Professor Chigozie Ogbu.

Ezika while addressing journalists in Awka said that Ubah’s agents dumped one of the papers in front of Senator Obi’s house, who contacted him to take up the matter.

“After looking at the process, our submission is that it is a mere academic exercise not known by the PDP constitution and the electoral guideline. The delegates list used by Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State to conduct the primary was the authentic list certified by the national headquarters of the party.

“You cannot go to your bedroom and compile names and expect the court to authenticate them as genuine,” he stated.

Ezika, however, said that all what was needed at this time was for the aspirants that lost the primary to join ship with Obaze to ensure the success of the party during the November 18 governorship election in the state.
