Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State is bent on making sure that a weak candidate emerges in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the November 18 governorship election, a reliable source in the party said on Friday. The source alleged that Obiano was using both Chief Ben Obi and Princess Stella Oduah to achieve his plans.

“If not controlled quickly, the PDP may once again lose Anambra State gubernatorial election,” the source, who is close to Obi and who can be described as his political ally, but who is not happy with the turn of events, toldNews Express.

The source said that after making available to his aides hundreds of millions of Naira for the job, Obiano quietly travelled to the United States "in the guise of going for two weeks holidays, when the truth was that he did not want to stay in the country to take attention off him."

Obiano, the source alleged, had since bought Obi through monthly patronage. “He went on to build a big house for him in Awka. The moment Senator Ben Obi was announced as the Secretary of the PDP, he started the road to his house, the only road he has started and completed in Awka,” the source said.

For Oduah, the source alleged that Obiano released hundreds of millions to her a few days to the PDP Ward Congress and promised to help her out of thecase she is presently enmeshed in with theEconomic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“In carrying out their agenda, they recruited the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Pius Anyim Pius, who made sure his man and the Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi was included in the committee to conduct the PDP primary in Anambra State,” the source said.

News Express source, who is disturbed at the turn of events, said that rather than use the state election to clean the PDP records in the area and use it to present a new face of the party, the PDP memberswere the ones digging their own gravedue to their greed.

When asked the role of the powerful PDP Governors such as Governors Nyesom Wike and Ayodele Fayose, he said it was not exactly clear and that event in few days would make that clearer.

When reminded that the PDP ought to use the Anambra State election to reinvent itself, Obi was quoted as saying that he was ready to dare Wike and Fayose, noting that they were pursuing their own interest, just like any other person.
